The High Falls Volunteer Fire and Rescue, a member of Monroe County Emergency Services, will hold a ribbon cutting for its new 10,000-square-foot station Sept. 22, 13wmaz.com reported.
According to the report, around $1 million worth of SPLOST funds went into the new station.
Construction will be completed by the end of September, the report said. A fire official said there will be sleeping quarters for everybody and a big day room.
The 13-member department has been in its old fire station for nearly 50 years.
A fire official said the old station had water leaks and septic problems, and that the new station will be more comfortable and will be available for the community to use.
