Locals in Goshen are busy recovering from the July 6 tornado that struck town, and one of the biggest efforts is the fire station.

Goshen Fire and EMS Station 18 was left with a collapsed roof and caved-in walls—leaving ample debris, reports spectrum1news.com. Eight firefighters were present at the station the night of the storm; thankfully, no injuries were reported.

“Goshen Fire and EMS is fully staffed and operating, but obviously like most of our community we too have a lot of recovery to deal with,” a Facebook post reads. “Fire Chief Ed Myers said it best yesterday when asked how the firefighters were dealing with this event and the damage to their station.”

Until the station is back up and running, crews are operating out of the township administration building and the department’s station 19.

Officials have been working with structural engineers and an insurance adjuster to see if the building can be salvaged or needs to be rebuilt, according to the report.

“Thank you to all that have reached out and checked in,” a separate Facebook post reads. “We are all okay and working through this. I also want to thank every neighboring fire department, the residents of this great community, and all those who have donated, volunteered, and done everything that can to help us through this. It will take time, but we will rebuild and come back stronger from this.”
