An EMS provider was charged with failure to yield after a crash involving an ambulance and a tractor-trailer that sent two first responders to the hospital, WITN reported.
The crash occurred at the intersection of Highway 111 and Sheep Pasture Road in the Albertson area on June 12. Authorities said the Duplin County ambulance pulled out in front of the truck carrying chickens.
The report said the truck driver tried to stop but was unable to. The ambulance did not have its lights and sirens on.
The two EMS providers were airlifted to ECU Health Medical Center with serious injuries. The patient and the truck driver were also sent to the hospital. State Police said everyone involved is expected to recover.
