PRESS RELEASE
Plymouth Fire Rescue Chief Thomas Morrison announced recently that the department was awarded more than $29,000 for the purchase and installation of a turnout gear washer and drying cabinet. The funds were made available by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.
Chief Morrison states, “In keeping with our mission to promote awareness and prevent cancer, this grant will enable us to implement a streamlined process for cleaning and drying our gear. This will ensure that our firefighters are better protected from carcinogens and other contaminants. We are thankful for the efforts of Capt. Steve Vachon who was the primary author of this grant application. We also appreciated the assistance of Consultant Greg Bavis from First Responder Grants.”
