Department Takes Delivery of New SCBA

The Florence (AL) Fire Deparement has taken delivery of an order of 50 SCBA that will allow it to equip each truck in the department’s five stations with new SCBA. Each unit cost about $6,000, according to the department, with each cylinder costing up to $1,000.

Department representatives say that it has needed to upgrade its SCBA for a while, with the last upgrade happening 13 years ago.

The chief of the department says that it will continue using existing SCBA for training purposes, for example by new firefighters entering rookie school.
