2015 Award for Best New Hazmat Innovation

Alex Kass, production engineer, Indian Springs Mfg., was awarded the 2015 Robert P. Turkington Innovation and Technology Award at this year’s Continuing Challenge HazMat Workshop in Sacramento, California.

The Robert P. Turkington Award is presented to the individual, group, organization, or other association who developed or was instrumental in the development and/or creation of a new technology or innovation for the hazardous materials community. It is named in honor of Robert P. Turkington, an early innovator in hazardous materials response equipment.

The award was presented to Kass for his initial concept and overall design work for the new Chlorine Institute Emergency Kit‐B, Device 28C. The new design is a major advancement for containing potential leaks that may occur on chlorine one ton containers. Kass has been an employee with Indian Springs for 30 years and is a resident of Baldwinsville NY.

Indian Springs Mfg. has been a manufacturer of hazardous materials containment equipment for over 50 years.
