Globe Manufacturing Featured on National Television

To wrap up its yearlong 125th anniversary celebration, Globe Manufacturing, Inc., will be featured on a special edition of ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” on Dec. 3, 2012 at 8 p.m. EST.

In late 2010, Globe, the inventor and innovator of firefighter turnout gear responded to a crisis in Heart of the Pines (TX). Wildfires swept through the small town, destroying 1,600 homes, including the local firehouse. Two people were killed, and 20 of the 24 volunteer firefighters lost their homes while out fighting the fire. All of the volunteer firehouse’s gear was destroyed.

“Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” built a new home for two of the firefighters who lived next door to the fire station. The show also rebuilt the fire station and replaced all of the turnout gear, with a donation from Globe totaling more than $50,000. “That fire was devastating to residents of Heart of the Pines,” says Rob Freese, Globe’s senior VP of marketing, “and we are so happy to help protect them so they can continue to protect the town as it rebuilds.”

“Seventy percent of this country’s fire departments are volunteer, doing an important job because they love it and want to help their communities,” says Philip Stittleburg, chairman of the National Volunteer Fire Council. “Often, these departments struggle to find funds to meet basic needs.”

Tune in Monday, Dec. 3 at 8 p.m. EST to see them “Move … That… Bus” on “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” on ABC.
