WATCH | CAL FIRE Adds Seven New C-130 Air Tankers

CAL FIRE made the following Facebook post Monday, Aug. 26:

Meet the C-130H air tanker. The first of seven of these aircraft goes into service Monday, Aug. 26 McClellan Airtanker Base in Sacramento, California. Previously part of the U.S. Coast Guard fleet, these aircraft are being transformed to enhance our already powerful aerial response to wildland fires and protecting communities and natural resources throughout California.

Capable of delivering 4,000 gallons of retardant in a single flight, these air tankers will add to the pursuit of keeping 95% of fires to 10 acres or less.

Watch the video to see how the C-130Hs are elevating CAL FIRE’s already impressive air fleet.
