Verdigris (OK) Voters Pass $3.75M Bond for Two New Fire Trucks

Voters in the Verdigris Fire District passed a bond recently allowing the district to purchase two new fire trucks, kjrh.com reported.

The fire district is not directly tied to the town of Verdigris, the report said. Instead, the chief answers to an independently elected board, according to the report. The district’s funding is similar to that of a school district. It is based on property taxes rather than sales taxes, the report said.

The fire district will be replacing a 1990 and a 2000 model fire apparatus. The department plans to donate the older trucks to a smaller department, the report said.
