Two Firefighters Injured When Meriwether County (GA) Fire Apparatus Hydroplanes, Overturns

The Meriwether County Fire Rescue made the following Facebook post Sunday, July 28:

Two Georgia firefighters were injured when one of Meriwether County Fire Rescue units was responding to a vehicle accident on state Highway 85, north of Gay, at approximately 6:30 p.m. Sunday, July 28.

The responding engine hit water in the roadway, hydroplaned and overturned.

Both firefighters were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries and were expect to be released later Sunday evening.

“We appreciate all the text and calls of concern for our firefighters. Again they escaped with minor injuries. This accident is being worked by Georgia State Patrol.”

Later that same day, the department said on Facebook: “There are some posts saying there is video of the accident. There is no released videos on the accident at this time. Please do not click on the link they provide it is a scam/virus.”
