The Sherman Fire Department restored an iconic Mack fire truck that’s been with the department since the beginning – 1949, kten.com reported.
It’s been continuously owned by the city of Sherman for 75 years, a fire official said.
The truck was in service until the 1980s. That’s when it became a city mascot, making appearances at events like parades. Then it was put out of commission two years ago, the report said.
The fire official said they found a shop that would work on it and that shop was able to restore it, according to the report.
