San Juan County (NM) Gets $1M in Federal Funding for New Fire Apparatus

San Juan County Fire and Rescue has received federal funding for a new fire apparatus, daily-times.com reported.

A fire official told members of the San Juan County Commission during its May 21 meeting that the county’s request for approximately $1 million for the vehicle through congressionally authorized spending through the office of U.S. Rep. Teresa Leger Fernandez, D-Las Vegas, New Mexico, had been approved, the report said. The county applied for the money earlier this year.

The money will not be available until fall when Leger Fernandez is planning on visiting San Juan County to celebrate the grant, according to the report.

A county official said the county would have to wait until it has the money in hand to order the vehicle. The delivery time is expected to take anywhere from two to three years, the report said.
