Second District (MD) VFD Purchases New Heavy Rescue

The Second District Volunteers announced recently on a Facebook post that they purchased a new state-of-the-art heavy duty rescue squad.

This unit will replace an aging 2003 Pierce Dash rescue engine. Squad 6 will be built by Pierce Manufacturing in Appleton, Wisconsin.

The apparatus replacement committee has been working hard over the last several months, designing the ideal piece of apparatus to serve the community for the next 20-25 years. The department membership and board of directors approved the purchase at an October 2023 business meeting.

Delivery of Squad 6 is expected in late September 2026 .

This vehicle will have multiple response capabilities including vehicle extrication/stabilization, water rescue, rope rescue, hazardous material response, ventilation, rapid intervention, and a plethora of tools for most rescue situations.
