During a special session of the Clarksburg City Council Thursday, Feb. 29, members voted in favor of investing $3.1 million in three new fire apparatus – a rescue truck, ladder truck, and a pumper – for the Clarksburg Fire Department, wboy.com reported.
“Each truck will be custom built. Delivery times will vary between 1.5 to upward of 4 years,” the city of Clarksburg, WV said in a Facebook post.
The rescue truck will cost $569,000, the report said. Fire officials said that this truck would replace a previous broken one and will carry the HURST Jaws of Life and all other car accident-related rescue equipment, according to the report.
The ladder truck and pumper are being combined to cost of $2,573,818, the report said. Officials with the CFD said the pumper will be a multi-purpose rig that will have a shorter wheelbase. This will allow fire crews to get into not only the city streets but also the residential areas where a large ladder truck cannot, according to the report.
All of the new rigs will be built by the Sutphen Corporation.
