The Winnipeg Fire Department, Manitoba, Canada, recently took delivery of 11 custom pumpers built by E-ONE on Typhoon cabs and chassis. Each pumper, which included loose equipment, cost $485,000 (Canadian).
The apparatus feature long cabs with 20-inch vista roofs, extra heaters and insulation for Canadian winters, EMS cabinets, Cummins 330-hp diesel engines and 18,000-pound front axles with 23,000-pound rear axles.
All have 634-gallon (U.S.) tanks; Hale Qmax 1,500-gpm pumps; Trident priming systems; and full winterization for the pump houses with heat pans; dual pump compartment heaters; and enclosed pump control panels, which are located on the sides behind roll-up doors.
The pumpers also have FoamPro 2002 foam systems; fully multiplexed chassis and bodies with Class 1 ES-Key systems.
To provide scene lighting, the apparatus are equipped with Onan 8,000-watt hydraulic generators and Command Light Model KL450 light towers. Warning lights are Federal Signal LED units, including Quadraflare LED lower level lights and JLX6001 light bars. Compartment and interior cab lighting is also LED.
The units were sold by Ken Potter, an apparatus consultant with Carriere Fire & Safety Ltd., Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada.
