The Mobile Demonstration Unit (MDU) Program offers compressed air foam systems (CAFS) demonstration as well as fire pump maintenance and operation instruction capabilities.
Each unit in the program is responsible for covering an area within the United States and Canada.
“Since launching the program, we’ve had nothing but positive feedback from our customers,” said Steve Toren, western area sales manager for Waterous. “We’re glad to hear that stations across the U.S. and Canada are finding that the courses we provide are a real value to their operations.”
Subjects covered during the demonstrations include fire pump, foam proportioner, compressor and accessory operation and maintenance. Single and two-stage pumps, pto pumps, pressure control systems, foam proportioning systems, compressed air foam systems, pump shift mechanisms, priming systems, intake and discharge valves and drain valves.
“We see the course as such a valuable tool that we provide it as a free service to all fire departments, [dealers and apparatus builders],” Toren said. “At Waterous we feel that if programs like these can benefit our fellow firefighters in the field, we’re all for it.”
Although demonstrations deal specifically with Waterous products and accessories, much of the material on operation and maintenance is applicable to other products, regardless of manufacturer. The demonstrations are conducted by highly trained Waterous representatives and firefighters, according to the company.
