Training on the FDNY Super Pumper – 10,000+ Gallons-Per-Minute Takes Some Practice

The FDNY trained on its Ferrara super pumper. The specialized apparatus is designed to move through tight streets and pump water. Lots of it.

From a pressurized source it can pump more than 10,000 gallons per minute. It can pump 5,500 gallons per minute drafting from a body of water. It has three deck guns, one forward and two rear, The forward gun can put out over 8,000 gallons per minute. The rear are capable of 2,100 gallons per minute.

The streams can reach 500 feet, with vertical range of 400 feet.
