San Angelo (TX) Welcomes Two New Pumpers

Source: San Angelo Fire Department Facebook page.

The San Angelo Fire Department will start of service for two new pumpers with a centuries-old tradition that the town has never seen before, conchovalleyhomepage.com reported.

Two ceremonies are slated for March 1 at different fire stations in town: Engine 5 (11 a.m. Station 5, 3351 TLC Way) and Engine 3 (3 p.m. Station 3, 514 Smith Boulevard).

The new pumpers, priced at approximately $650,000 at the time of purchase, will replace engines that had been used by the SAFD for 16 years, the report said. The older vehicles’ growing maintenance costs eventually warranted replacement, according to the report.

The push-in ceremonies mark the first time the SAFD has ever observed the tradition, according to the report.
