Rock Island (IL) Takes Delivery of New Pumper

Source: Rock Island Fire Department Facebook page.

The Rock Island Fire Department made the following Facebook post recently:

The Rock Island Fire Department is very excited to announce that the brand new Engine 32 is now in service and will be serving the citizens and guests of the city of Rock Island effective immediately.

This beautiful new apparatus has been outfitted to meet our needs, training is complete, she has been all shined up and she is on the streets and ready to respond!!

We are very proud that this beautiful new engine was built right here in Illinois by Alexis Fire Equipment. This unit, built on a Spartan Chassis, is powered by a Cummings L9 Engine. It has a 1,500-gallons-per-minute pump, and a 1,000-gallon tank. It is built on a stainless steel body with a galvanized frame for longevity during our rough Midwestern winters.

This unit will respond out of Fire Station No. 2 on Ridgewood Road and will provide first-due service to the Southwest Territory of Rock Island.

We are very grateful for the coordination and teamwork between Fire Chief Bob Graff, Rock Island Firefighters I.A.F.F. Local 26 President Chad Jacobs, City Manager Todd Thompson, and the Rock Island City council for working diligently to expedite the purchase of this engine!!

Another matching engine has already been ordered and will arrive later this spring.
