Chelsea (AL) Fire and Rescue Gets Three New Fire Apparatus, Training Facility

Chelsea Fire and Rescue recently added three new fire apparatus and a brand-new training facility, wbrc.com reported.

The three fire apparatus will be delivered to all three fire stations and then the firefighters will begin in-service training. The apparatus will be ready to serve in a couple of weeks, the report said.

Training facility

Earlier this year, Captain William Ricketts put together a group to start researching different options for a future training facility, the department said in a Facebook post. They decided that building their own structure would be the best option. This would decrease the cost by hundreds of thousands and give the department the opportunity to build something specific to its needs with no wasted money.

In June, some in the group traveled to the Fire Department Training Network in Indianapolis to attend a class on building training props capable of creating both simulated and realistic fireground conditions for firefighters to practice and learn the skills needed during actual fireground operations.

Last week, ground was broken on the new training facility. It is located behind Station 33 on Highway 51. We’re excited to see the vision starting to become a reality, the department said. Thank you to our mayor, council, and citizens for your continued support. We will continue to post updates.
