The Canastota Volunteer Fire Department has added a new pumper to its fleet, replacing one that served the community for more than 44 years, canastota.com reported.

This Navistar/International pumper was built by Darley on a CV chassis and is the second of its line, the report said.

The new pumper was purchased for $440,615 primarily by a grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. There was a $21,428 match from the village, according to the report.

The new vehicle replaces a 1979 Ford pumper nicknamed “Old Betsy”, also built by Darley, and will now be sold at auction, the report said.
