The Port Matilda Fire Company 15 made the following Facebook post recently:

“Today while heading to an in-house training event at Centre County Public Safety Training Center our engine tanker experienced catastrophic engine failure. We would like to express great gratitude for Alpha Fire Company, Eagle Towing and Recovery and Penn Dot for all your help in keeping us safe while we could get the engine tanker removed.

“To our community we hope to have our rig back up and running as soon as possible. In the meantime we would like to thank you for your continued support.”

The fire company then posted a follow-up to the original post:

“The truth is (the engine failure) caused damage to a lot more than the motor when the failure happened so we will not know our next step(s) until it can be assessed further later in next business week.”
