Ponchatoula (LA) FD Takes Delivery of ‘Swiss Army Knife of Fire Trucks’

The Ponchatoula Fire Department has taken delivery of a new vehicle described as the “Swiss Army Knife of Fire Trucks,” wbrz.com reported.

The supplier of the Rosenbauer rig, Bonaventure Fire and Safety, said the truck has a 1,200-gallon water tank plus other features designed to aid firefighting efforts, according to the report.

The Tangipahoa Parish Rural Fire Protection District No. 2 announced the unit’s arrival Friday, June 7, the report said.

  • Rosenbauer 2-door Freightliner side mount control
  • 1,200-gallon water tank with 20-gallon Foam cell, Hale 1,250-gpm pump
  • 2-1.5-inch crosslays, front bumper hose reel with 1.5-inchx150-feet lightweight Booster Hose
  • Easy to deploy and reload Zico Quic-Lift Ladder Mount system
  • Aluminum Hosebed cover slotted for backboard storage
  • Wheel well extinguisher storage both sides; wheel well floor dry pull out compartment right side
  • Water tank has a tunnel with rear pull out,
  • Tilt down heavy duty tray installed for FD Strut System access
  • Customized pull out tray and mounts for extrication tools
