NY Man Charged with Breaking Fire Truck Windshield

Jul. 15—COHOES, N.Y. — A 33-year-old Cohoes man has been arrested and charged with criminal mischief after he allegedly threw a rock at a city fire truck that was parked at the Cohoes Fire Department’s Central Avenue Station.

The vehicle’s windshield had apparently been broken by a rock, causing in excess of $1,500 in damage.

Through further investigation, patrol officers were quickly able to identify and arrest the perpetrator. Michael Cooper was charged with Criminal Mischief in the 3rd degree (Class E Felony).

Cooper was arraigned in Cohoes City Court and remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility with a future court date of July 16, 2024. Additional criminal mischief charges are pending as a result of Cooper’s involvement in five separate incidents over the past two weeks. Those include a broken window at the same fire station as well as damage to a vehicle, residence, and businesses.
