Norfolk (VA) Fire Rescue Welcomes New Fire Boat 13, Named Harry Snead, FD Trailblazer

The Norfolk-Fire Rescue made the following Facebook post recently:

Norfolk-Fire Rescue is proud to welcome Fire Boat 13 to the fleet. Named in honor of Lt. Harry Snead, a trailblazer and beloved mentor, Fire Boat 13 was dedicated at a heartfelt ceremony at Waterside last month.

Lt. Harry Snead made history in 1968 as the first African American to be hired and successfully complete the year-long probationary period with NFR.

His legacy lives on through his dedication to justice, his camaraderie, and his passion for firefighting.
