“We hope we don’t have to use them,” New Hanover County Fire Rescue said in a Facebook post Tuesday, Aug. 6. “But if we do, we have them, crews are trained and to ensure the safety and well-being of our community we will deploy them.”

As Tropical Storm Debby churns up the East Coast, New Hanover County Fire Rescue is getting its emergency vehicles prepared to face whatever the storm may bring, wect.com reported.

A fire official said high water rescue trucks are stationed on the South and North ends of New Hanover County. The department also has inflatable boats, Jon boats, and other safety equipment ready to go in case of severe flooding, the report said.

According to New Hanover County Emergency Management, Tropical Storm Debby is currently off Georgia’s coast, moving northward. New Hanover County is under tropical storm, flood, and tornado watches. The main threats include heavy rainfall, potential flooding, and a marginal risk of tornadoes. These conditions are expected to last through Friday morning.
