The Lexington (NC) Fire Department recently retired its aerial ladder firetruck following 63 years of service, according to a report on The-Dispatch.com.
To pay homage, 65-year-old former Lexington fire chief William Deal climbed the truck’s 85-foot ladder in a minute and 10 seconds. After a quick selfie he descended the ladder and sent the truck to its next call—North Carolina Fallen Firefighters Foundation.
Upon its purchase in 1958, it was the only aerial ladder truck in Davidson County.
