Ladder Truck Catches on Fire Inside Spalding County (GA) Fire Station, Officials Say

The Spalding County Fire Department is working to restore Station 6 after a ladder truck caught on fire inside the building over the weekend, 11alive.com reported.

According to fire officials, around 3 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, firefighters at Spalding County Station 6 were alerted to the smell of smoke inside the station. Upon investigation, they discovered a fire truck engulfed in flames in the station bay, the report said.

Neighboring stations and agencies responded and helped to contain the fire, preventing injury and further damage, according to the report.

The fire was determined to be caused by a mechanical malfunction within the ladder truck, which caused it to catch on fire, according to the Georgia State Fire Marshal’s Office.
