TAFT, California – After serving the residents of Taft and the nearby areas for 23 years, old Truck 21 has been retired, Kern County Fire Department said in a news release recently.

Long anticipated and worth the wait, new Truck 21 is now in service at KCFD Station 21. Boasting the agility of the tiller, a longer ladder, and many other upgrades and new tools, this ladder truck enables firefighters to provide an even higher level of service to the community.

The Kern County Fire Department is honored to provide this new equipment to the citizens of Taft and to the firefighters who protect them.

The new ladder truck comes with the following features:

  • A tiller in the back, providing a significant increase in mobility.
  • A 102-foot ladder that can support much more weight.
  • A 1,500-gallons-per-minute water pump and a 300-gallone water tank.
  • eDRAULIC, battery-powered Jaws of Life tools.
