The Farmville Fire Department is excited to announce that Station 2, located at 11000 Lee Road 188, has been placed into service, the department said in a Facebook post.

There is still interior work and signage to be completed, but the station can now serve the citizens of the fire district.

“This project would not have been possible without generous donations and a grant award for building materials from Mid-South RC&D,” the post said. “Our members look forward to operating out of this new station for future calls. If you are interested in becoming a member, or have questions about the station, please reach out to us through Facebook messenger or by email.”

The members of the Farmville Fire Department are excited to welcome Engine 817 to our fleet, the department announced in July.

Engine 817 was the apparatus that was donated by the Holloway Terrace Fire Company in New Castle, Delaware in May. Originally a 1984 Mack that was refurbished in 1996 by E-ONE, Engine 817 is a pumper that holds 1,000 gallons of water, can pump 1,500 gallons per minute, and carries all necessary tools for firefighting operations.

The apparatus is also equipped with extrication tools that were donated by the Holloway Terrace Fire Company and the Townsend Fire Company. Engine 817 will be primarily housed at our new Station 2, and will serve our district and surrounding fire districts for many years to come.
