PRESS RELEASE

The Endicott Fire Department is proud to announce the receipt of a significant $250,000 grant secured by Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo, which has facilitated essential equipment upgrades. The highlight of these upgrades includes the acquisition of two new fire rescue boats and a trailer, which were unveiled Tuesday, Aug. 6.

“I am always focused on the health and safety of our community and on the brave first responders who put their own lives at risk,” said Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo. “That’s why making sure that they have the equipment they need is so important.”

In addition to the boats and trailer, the grant also funded the procurement of:

  • Confined space rescue equipment
  • Jaws of Life tools
  • Elevator rescue equipment
  • Complete sets of structural firefighting turnout gear for each firefighter

Lieutenant Dave Abell of the Endicott Fire Department said having this gear is incredibly helpful and will make the Village of Endicott safer for residents and firefighters.

“The Endicott Fire Department and Local 1280 members would like to thank Assemblywoman Lupardo for her continued support of emergency services in our area. This grant funding allows us to provide additional services to the residents, businesses, and visitors of the Village of Endicott, while also keeping our firefighters safe,” Abell said. “With the Village bordering the Susquehanna River, these boats allow our on-duty crews to quickly respond to water emergencies, greatly increasing the possibility of positive outcomes.”

The new fire rescue boats will play a crucial role in water rescue operations, particularly important given the Village’s proximity to the Susquehanna River. These upgrades not only enhance the department’s capability to respond swiftly and effectively to emergencies but also underscore the commitment to ensuring the safety of both firefighters and the community.
