Blounts Creek (NC) VFD Receives $850K State Grant for Apparatus and Station Upgrades

The Blounts Creek Volunteer Fire Department made the following Facebook post Monday, June 10:

The Blounts Creek Volunteer Fire Department welcomed North Carolina state Representative Keith Kidwell and representatives from Beaufort County NC Emergency Services, Beaufort County Manager/Finance Office, and Beaufort County Commissioner Frankie Waters for a check presentation on grant funding from the state legislature.

This funding was distributed over a two-year period and has greatly enhanced the fire services. Rep. Kidwell presented Blounts Creek Fire with a check for $850,000.

These funds were used for the purchase of a new pumper, a new quick response vehicle and many station and equipment upgrades. Without this funding departments such as Blounts Creek are left searching for ways to pay for equipment that in today’s times cost an astronomical amount which forces departments to go without.

“We say thank you to Rep. Kidwell for your hard work and everyone that was involved in making this happen,” the department said.
