Goodwill Fire Company (PA) Apparatus Catches Fire in Station

The following was posted on Pottstown Fire Department & Emergency Management’s Facebook page Friday:

On Thursday night at 8:41, Goodwill Fire Company Station 69A reported to Montgomery County Emergency Dispatch Center that a piece of fire apparatus was on fire inside the station.

The Pottstown Fire Department as well as Goodwill Fire Company EMS were dispatched. Crews reported that Engine 69-9’s cab was fully involved. Crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire and contain it to the apparatus only. Two ambulances, a fire rehab unit, and the Pottstown Fire Police response unit as well as bays suffered smoke damage.

One firefighter was taken by Goodwill EMS to Pottstown Tower Health Hospital for evaluation from smoke inhalation.

The Pottstown Fire Chief Frank Hand and the Pottstown Fire Marshal Office are conducting an investigation as to the cause of the fire at this time.

We would like to thank the Phillies Fire Company, North End Fire Company, as well as the Sanatoga Fire Company, and Ringing Hill Fire Company Fire Police for their assistance and response.

We would like to thank all the members of the public and our fellow firefighters that have reached out via phone, text, and social media.

Our ambulance service and our ability to respond to 911 calls for assistance remain intact.
