Engine 101 began service with the Addison (TX) Fire Department on February 18, 2019. Both cab (10 inch raised roof) and chassis are the Sutphen Monarch model. Cab seating for 4 is provided along with a large, center-mounted EMS cabinet installed at the rear of the cab. The cab and body are constructed of extruded aluminum, and AMDOR roll-up compartment doors are part of the body package. A Coleman 15,000-Btu roof-mounted RV air conditioner keeps the EMS supplies cool when the unit is in the station bay. Extra SCBA bottles are stored in compartments adjacent to the rear wheel wells.
Power is provided by a 450-hp Cummins L9 engine and an Allison Generation IV EVS 3000 5-speed transmission with pushbutton shifter.
The apparatus has a Hale Qmax 1,500-gpm pump (midship) and a UPF Poly 960-gallon tank. The front bumper tray features a scorpion load of 1¾-inch hose (150’) connected to a 1½-inch discharge. Crosslays located in front of the pump panel include two lays of 1¾-inch hose (200’ each with lift out trays) connected to 1½-inch discharges. The bed carries 1,000’ of 5” LDH, 400’ of 2½-inch preconnected hose and 250’ of 2½-inch connected to a gated wye feeding two 1¾-inch attack lines. Additional 5” LDH sections (20’ each) are stored in troughs on the running boards. The hosebed is protected by an aluminum folding panel power cover.
A Hannay booster reel with 150’ of 1-inch hose with an Akron 1701 nozzle is mounted in the right dunnage area. A Task Force Tips Hurricane Model XFIH-EL1A deck gun paired with a TFT M-ERP 1,250-gpm nozzle is mounted above the pump. Foam is provided by a FoamPro 2002 system with a 40-gallon foam cell and is plumbed to the front tray, the upper crosslay, and the deck gun. Duo-Safety ladders (24’ 900-A 2-section, 14’ 775-DR double-end roof, and a 10’ folding), pike poles, and a backboard are stored in a tunnel on the right rear of the body.
The warning lights include a Whelen Freedom 72-inch light bar (Model F4N7QLED) and two Whelen L31 beacons mounted on the rear body corners. Whelen M6 and ION LED lights adorn the perimeter of the cab and body. A Whelen TAL 65 Traffic Advisor is mounted on the rear of the apparatus. Scene lighting provided by Whelen M9 lights mounted above the middle cab windows and high on the rear. Two FRC Spectra Model telescoping lights are mounted on the rear corners of the cab along with a Spectra Model light mounted on the brow.
Audio warning devices include a Federal Q2B flush-mounted through the front cab grille and a Whelen Model 295HFS2 electronic siren module. Two Cast Products Model SA-4201-6B-A siren speakers are mounted behind the grille.
