FDIC International 2023: The Relationships

Chris Mc Loone

It has been said before, but it is worth repeating that a massive part of what makes FDIC International a success is the relationships it has built with the Indianapolis (IN) Fire Department and surrounding businesses and fire departments. The strength of these relationships does not build overnight. Equally important are the relationships FDIC International has built with its vendors who supply H.O.T. sites with the equipment they need to assist instructors in delivering the best training in North America. From nozzles, SCBA, saws, other water appliances, extrication tools, two-way radios, TICs, hand tools, and forcible entry props, these contributions are invaluable to delivering first-class training evolutions.

Surrounding fire departments offer personnel, facilities, and fire apparatus to help do their part in preparing firefighters to operate with confidence and safely in hostile environments. The worth of these relationships is hard to measure. Additionally, the use of various structures to provide realistic training is a hallmark of FDIC International and afford attendees with real-world scenarios they’ll face on the fire ground.

As the week turns toward opening ceremonies and inside classroom presentations, we transition from hands-on to the theories behind the tactics we employ at every incident and finally to the largest trade show in North America. There’s a lot more coming from FDIC International 2023.
