Scott FDIC 2023 collaborations

3M Scott Fire & Safety, part of 3M’s Personal Safety Division, is excited to announce new industry-leading collaborations at FDIC International 2023.

3M continues to renew its commitment to the fire and EMS community through collaborative partnerships and innovation. Taking an outside-in approach, 3M collaborates with other technology providers to expand its solutions capabilities, which help drive improvements in firefighter safety and communications on the fireground.

IdentiFire™

3M Scott Fire & Safety announces an exclusive relationship with IdentiFire to certify the IdentiFire™ Facepiece Nameplate as an accessory to the 3M™ Scott™ Air-Pak™ X3 Pro SCBA under NFPA 1981, Standard on Open-Circuit Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) for Emergency Services. The facepiece nameplate is compatible with the 3M™ Scott™ AV-3000 HT Facepiece and 3M™ Scott™ Vision C5 Facepiece and is designed to help improve firefighter accountability on the fireground. This solution combines IdentiFire’s signature photoluminescent technology with 3M™ Scotchlite™ Reflective Material, allowing for easy identification in low-light and smoky conditions.

The collaboration between IdentiFire and 3M Scott Fire & Safety is a testament to what can be done when two companies come together for the greater good of the fire service. “Firefighters have been asking for a certified facepiece accessory that can be used to help enhance accountability on the fireground,” said Jason Cannon, U.S. and Canada fire service activation marketer. “We are excited to showcase the IdentiFire™ Facepiece Namplate as an approved accessory for the 3M Scott facepiece.”

L3Harris®

3M Scott Fire & Safety collaborates with L3Harris to provide a seamless product integration for enhanced fireground communications. Through this collaboration, L3Harris developed firmware to allow their Extreme™ speaker microphone (ESM) to act as an external voice amp for the 3M™ Scott™ Vision C5 Facepiece with Radio Direct Interface. This product integration enhances firefighter-to-firefighter communication by providing hands-free, always-on voice amplification, helping to ensure key information is heard among team members.

The collaboration between 3M Scott Fire & Safety and L3Harris demonstrates the value of working together to meet a common goal — Enhancing firefighter safety. “Working closely with our customers, we recognized there was an opportunity to further improve fireground communications,” said Josh Burnheimer, global product marketer. “The integration of the L3Harris Extreme™ speaker microphone as an external voice amplifier for the 3M™ Scott™ Vision C5 Facepiece with Radio Direct Interface provides yet another tool to enhance firefighter communications.”
