The following was posted on the Cokato Fire Department’s Facebook page Wednesday, June 19:
Attention Cokato, Minnesota citizens:
Our municipal water supply was depleted because of vandalism once again. This occurred Saturday, June 15 after 11 p.m. until the early morning hours on Sunday.
The Cokato Fire Department was called out between 11:30 p.m. and 2:30 a.m. in the city for multiple fire hydrants open throughout this city. At this time the Cokato Fire Department was already busy and working a serious motor vehicle accident in our area. This is no joke, this is a serious matter and if juveniles are involved they need to be held responsible for this. This is depleting our water supply in town, which can be a major threat if a fire would occur. This has happened in the past but this time it wasted over one million-plus gallons of water. This is why households had minimal water pressure early Sunday morning. Not only would these adults/juveniles be held accountable, but quite possibly the parents of juveniles would be responsible in court. This wrecks roadways, property, and potential flooding concerns.
Please notify the Wright County Sheriff’s Department if you have any information: 763-682-7600.
