Manufacturer’s Spotlight: Ziamatic Corporation

Ziamatic Corporation

CM: Please give a brief history of Ziamatic.

Ziamatic: In 1952, Ted Ziaylek Jr. invented an automatic speed drill press that advanced the drill bit and the stock being drilled. The invention was called Ziamatic. Eventually, the name became the Ziamatic Company and later the Ziamatic Corporation in the 1970s. Ted and his brother John were members of the Yardley-Makefield (PA) Fire Company. They saw the need to create new fire equipment and so they came up with new self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) brackets to sell in the late 1960s. The original brackets were designed with spring clips to the retain the SCBA bottles. This eliminated the need and time to take them out of the cases they were stored in, making them readily available. As the fire business grew, all of the fire-related products were then sold under the Ziamatic Corporation. For more than 50 years now, Ziamatic Corporation has provided first responders with the tools and equipment they need to make their jobs safer, easier, and more efficient every day.

CM: What will you display at FDIC International 2024?

Ziamatic: FDIC is an important event for us, and we always make sure we have a lot to see at our booth. Ziamatic will display some of its popular products such as the Multiple Extrication Tool Holder and SCBA brackets such as the QSSD and the QSFD-180. We will also display newer products such as the Adjustable SURE-GRIP, Heavy Rescue Tool Mounts, and our increasingly popular Vehicle Cooling Units. These are spraying devices that address the growing concerns of vehicle fires. We will also feature some recently released products such as a Double Hard Sleeve Gantry, which allows firefighters to store and easily access two hard sleeves on a fire truck, and new SURE-GRIP Tool and Equipment Mounts, which feature a 2¾-inch stand-off from the mounting surface and a ¾- to 2-inch grip range. This newly designed and engineered addition to the SURE-GRIP product line makes mounting even easier and more effective for many of the most common and irregularly shaped tools and equipment.

CM: What makes Ziamatic’s products unique?

Ziamatic: All our products are designed, tested, and assembled in our building using high-quality materials. We’re constantly improving our products to meet the needs of the ever-evolving fire service industry. That happens with smart, thoughtful design and with thorough testing. One example of our unique approach is our Adjustable SURE-GRIP. We took an effective product—our SURE-GRIP, which uses strong HDPE brackets and durable hook-and-loop straps—and we adjusted our brackets and increased the grip range to hold larger, bulkier tools such as heavy rescue tools. Our heavy rescue tool mounting solutions are comprehensive. We offer our popular Multiple Extrication Tool Holder, but we also offer new solutions to mount rescue tools vertically on a truck such as our Heavy Rescue Tool Mount Cutter Kit and our Heavy Rescue Tool Mount Spreader/Combi Kit. The Heavy Rescue Tool Mounts have been rigorously tested by receiving free falling weight drops of 60 pounds more than 100 times in a row to ensure they will withstand the day-to-day use of firefighting.

CM: What advice do you have for departments regarding equipment mounting—large and small?

Ziamatic: Do your research and take your time to consider all of your options. Durability and quality are very important. Our tool and equipment mounts are effective, strong, and long-lasting.

CM: Tell me about the new products you have and how they are effective.

Ziamatic: In the past year alone, we have released a number of new products. These include our Adjustable SURE-GRIP, new Premix Holders, Heavy Rescue Tool Mounts, and Vehicle Cooling Units. We just released new SURE-GRIP Tool and Equipment Mounts and a Double Hard Sleeve Gantry.

The new Adjustable SURE-GRIP is made of nylon, which makes it strong, long-lasting, noncorrosive, and nonmarring. Its adjustable supports allow for a larger equipment grip range. It features a two-inch nylon strap that does not stretch. Its strap covers more surface area and allows for greater stability and stronger retention.

Our new Premix Holders are designed with super strong ¾-inch-thick HDPE material and are noncorrosive, chemical-resistant, and perfect for stainless bodies.

The brackets of our Heavy Rescue Tool Mounts are designed to store most extrication tools available to fire departments today and are most effective when combined with one of the brackets from our SURE-GRIP product line. They are made from high-density polyethylene and are noncorrosive and chemical-resistant. They are designed to fit most brands of hydraulic and battery-operated tools. They can be flush-mounted or spaced from the mounting surface to provide clearance for a battery.

Ziamatic’s Vehicle Cooling Units address the challenges created by vehicle fires with 39½- and 81-inch options available. They adapt to conventional fire hose using an NHT 1½-inch double female coupling. They can be slid underneath vehicles with a ground clearance of 5½ inches and still be very effective. The VCU-36 unit uses as little as 40 gallons of water per minute.
