The Haverhill Fire Department received a new battery-powered cutoff saw for quickly opening difficult-to-access spaces during emergencies, whav.net reported.
Merrimac Industrial Sales, the Haverhill-based provider of power tools, donated the saw made by Milwaukee Tools, the report said. The tool becomes a permanent component of the department’s Rescue 1 truck.
The tool will be used for ventilating a burning structure and rescue operations, like cutting open vehicles involved in accidents, enabling quicker and safer extraction of those injured, the report said.
“Supporting local heroes is part of our ongoing commitment to give back to our community,” Merrimac Industrial Sales said in a Facebook post. “We are honored to help serve those who serve our community.”
