GRANTS PASS, Oregon – Grants Pass police officers were dispatched to the Holiday Inn on NE Agness Avenue Thursday, June 27 for a reported theft, Grants Pass Police Department said in a Facebook post.
It appears that thieves stole firefighting equipment from U.S. Forestry trucks parked overnight while firefighters rested after fighting the Upper Applegate Fire.
Thousands of dollars of worth of equipment was stolen, including the following: Hotshot backpacks, emergency fire shelters, headlamps, compasses, firing sticks, signal mirrors, first aid kits, water bottles, and two Stihl chainsaws.
This equipment was used to protect the lives of firefighters and residents.
