Allmand’s EPL 8V light tower |
Allmand’s new EPL 8V Emergency Power Light Tower is engineered for quick setup during fires, natural disasters, rescue situations or other nighttime emergencies.
The company said the EPL 8V has a vertical configuration that provides several advantages. With standard light towers, when the light mast is retracted, it must be folded down across the unit for storage, transport and light fixture adjustment, according to Allmand. But with the EPL 8V’s design, the company said the mast telescopes in and out of its own housing, which results in easier setup, a compact design and reduced potential for damage.
The unit’s hydraulic system allows the mast to be raised or lowered in less than 30 seconds. With standard light towers, Allmand said the mast is horizontal when lowered, meaning a bit of trial and error is required to accurately position each fixture. But with the EPL 8V, the company said the tower is still vertical when retracted, making accurate fixture adjustment fast and simple.
The EPL 8V’s mast and light fixture assembly stay within the footprint of the trailer when lowered, making it easy to tow and store. Additionally, the company said there is less chance for accidental damage and injury.
A 13.6-hp Kubota diesel engine turns an 8,000-watt AVR generator, which provides electricity to Allmand’s exclusive SHO-HD lighting system. Featuring 1,250-watt lamps and ballasts, the SHO-HD produces 150,000 lumens per lamp, a 36-percent increase over the 110,000-lumen output of standard 1,000-watt lamps and over 45 percent more light over traditional quartz lights.
The EPL 8V can run continuously for approximately 60 hours on its 30-gallon fuel tank, the company said.
