Quint 124 was placed in service on January 15, 2020, with the Coppell (TX) Fire Department (CFD).
This quint is currently housed at Station 3 and will move to Station 4 when this new station goes online later this year. The cab/chassis is the Velocity model with TAK-4 Independent Front Suspension System.
Seating for five is provided as well as are two rear-facing cabinets on each side of the crew area. Another rear facing cabinet is mounted on top of the engine tunnel. The cab and body are constructed of aluminum, and hinged compartment doors are part of the body package. The truck is powered by a Cummins X 12 500-hp engine and an Allison 5th-Generation EVS 4500 transmission with six speeds and push-button shifter. The Pierce Command Zone Advanced Electronics & Control System with WiFi headlines the electrical system on the truck. A Harrison MSV six-kW generator is mounted at the front of the turntable.
The apparatus has a Hale QMAX-200 single stage, 2,000-gpm pump (mid-ship) and a 480-gallon UPF poly tank. Foam capabilities are provided by a FoamPro 2020 Foam System and a 20-gallon cell. Foam is plumbed to the front discharge, the three crosslays, and the 2½-inch discharge on the pump panel. The front bumper tray will accommodate 125 feet of 1¾-inch hose and 100 feet of one-inch forestry hose. The crosslays include two with 200 feet of 1¾-inch hose and one with 200 feet of 2½-inch hose. The bed carries 400 feet of 2½-inch hose in the left chute and 600 feet of five-inch LDH in the right chute. Two 100-foot lays of 2½-inch hose are stored in the rear left ladder compartment. Air bottle storage is located on each side of the body adjacent to the rear wheels.
The apparatus has a rear-mount, heavy-duty, 107-foot Ascendant Aerial Ladder constructed of steel (capable of a 750-pound tip load) along with a high-flow waterway that can flow up to 1,500 gpm. An Akron Model 3480 StreamMaster II electric monitor and an Akron Model 1578 nozzle are featured. A Stokes box is mounted on the right side of the aerial, and a 10-foot roof ladder (Duo-Safety 775-A-DR) is mounted behind the left-side boom panel. Fire Research Corporation SRA110-07A lights are mounted on the tip with Techniq LED rung lighting outlining the aerial for nighttime operations. Ground ladders (28-foot Duo-Safety 1200-A 2-Section, 16-foot Duo-Safety 875 DR Roof, and a 10-foot Duo-Safety Folding, 585A) are stored in two rear compartments. A Little Giant Model Revolution XE Model 22 ladder is stored in a cargo area over the pump.
The warning lights include two Whelen Freedom IV-Q 21½-inch light bars on the cab corners along with Whelen M6 model LED lights located around the rig exterior. Whelen Model L31HRFN LED beacons are mounted on the upper rear corners of the truck. Scene lighting is provided by Fire Research Corporation Model SPA570-Q28 lights mounted at the transition from body to turntable on each side and SPA260-Q20 LED surface mount lights mounted adjacent to the crew doors on each side. FRC SPA851-Q15 lights are angle mounted on the cab brow. Audio warning devices include a pedestal-mounted Federal Q2B and a Whelen Model 295SL101 electronic siren module with two Whelen SA315P speaker mounted through the front bumper. A Whelen HOWLER System provides additional audio warning.
