The Smith River Fire Protection District recently added two mini rescue-pumpers to its fleet. the rigs are built on F-550 cabs and chassis and came to the department at a cost of $200,000 each.
Each unit carries basic life support and medical equipment and a set of hydraulic extrication tools. The trucks also have 300-gallon water tanks, pumps, and hose reels.
The new rescue-pumpers replace a 1996 Ford rescue truck and a 1995 GMC Suburban.
Features and specifications include: F-550 Crew Cab 4×4 cabs and chassis; 84CA 203 WB front winch and brush guard; aluminum center console; Kussmaul Auto Eject; Darley 24-hp Kubota Diesel 320-gpm pumps; FoamPro 1601 foam systems; 300-gallon tanks; 11’ bodies with (4) locking hinged doors on each side; transverse compartment; Whelen 600 LED scene lights; (2) Akron Revel pole lights; BuckStop Super Single tires.
