Paramedics with the San Angelo Fire Department have changed the way they work to keep themselves and patients as safe as possible, reports Go San Angelo.
According to SAFD Assistant Chief of Operations Johnny Fisher, the department has been developing protocols for dealing with the coronavirus for nearly a month. The new protective measures involve preparations before a call, during initial treatment of a patient, and after the ambulance returns to a station.
The new safety measures have been evolving over the last few weeks primarily according to guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and local medical professionals. But despite a wealth of information from those and other sources, Fisher said dealing with coronavirus and keeping staff and patients safe remains a developing process.
