Warner Introduces Gear-Drying Lockers
Warner Bodies is diversifying and has started making drying lockers that store firefighter turnout gear in a dark, closed environment with a fan that turns the air over 30 times each hour.
Because turnout gear is susceptible to ultraviolet and fluorescent light, Warner President Mark Boice said the lockers can more than double the lifecycle of gear and provide savings of over $200 a month per eight firefighters.
“The lockers also improve firefighters’ quality of life,” he said, “by assuring they never have to wake up and put on cold, damp gear.”
Warner Bodies, based in Noblesville, Ind., makes truck bodies and custom fire apparatus.
