A 2006 custom E-ONE compressed air foam pumper was delivered to York Beach (Maine) Fire Department this summer.

The unit, which will be used to help protect a tourist area with a year-round population of 11,000, is built on an E-ONE Typhoon cab and chassis with a Cummins 400 hp engine and an Allison 3000EVSP transmission.

It’s equipped with a Hale Qmax 1,500 gpm pump and a 500-gallon E-ONE tank. It also has a Pneumax CAFS and a FoamPro 2001 foam proportioning system with a 30-gallon foam cell.

Other equipment includes an Akron Apollo 1,000 gpm master stream, a Honda 5,000-watt gasoline generator, two 70-watt Magnafire lights and two 150-watt Magnafire 12-volt lights on the cab front.

York Beach, which has three career firefighters and 50 volunteers, answers about 300 fire calls and 300 emergency medical service calls annually.

The beachfront station has four other E-ONE apparatus.

“We’ve had very good luck with E-ONE and want to continue purchasing E-ONEs,” said York Beach Fire Chief David Bridges, who also said the vehicle was designed with the help of the local E-ONE sales representative.

At $379,682, it was sold by Chris Champagne, Greenwood Emergency Vehicles, North Attleboro, Mass.
