The Fire Chief’s Memorial Bandshell at Elmwood Park in Norristown, Pennsylvania was damaged by fire early Wednesday morning.

“It’s a sad morning for the Norristown Fire Department as our cherished Fire Chief’s Memorial was destroyed by a 2 alarm fire,” the Norristown Fire Department said on Facebook. “For over 100 years this structure stood to remember the hundreds of firefighters that have served our community. The building may be gone, but we will never forget!”

The town council will rebuild the memorial’s bandshell, which has hosted numerous community events, including the Summer Concert Series and Fourth of July celebration, fox29.com reported.
