The Russellville Rural Fire Department was recently awarded a $225,000 grant through the E. Roads and Leona B. Carpenter Foundation, which has been three years in the making, wbko.com reported.
“There is a new truck in the works for Russellville Rural,” the fire department said in a Facebook post. “A big thanks to the Carpenter company for awarding us a grant to help pay for this much needed apparatus. We thank our board for helping us make this happen. And, most of all, we thank our citizens who support us day in and day out with donations and support at our fundraiser events. We have been blessed.”
According to Viktory Fire Equipment, the new pumper-tanker is built on a Freightliner M2-106 chassis with a 14-foot Extreme Duty Tanker Body, it features a Hale 1,250-gpm pump, 1,800-gallon water tank, 20 gallons of foam, a Hale 2.1 Smart Foam system, Whelen LED warning lights, and LED scene lighting.
In addition to the new fire truck, the station received funding from FEMA to install a new fume exhaust system. The new fume exhaust system is set to be installed this fall.
