Detectives Investigating Fatal Motorcycle Collision Into Seattle (WA) Fire Truck

Seattle Police detectives are investigating a fatal motorcycle collision into a Seattle Fire Department (SFD) truck on Monday, Aug. 19, spdblotter.seattle.gov reported.

At 3:16 a.m., patrol officers responded to a motorcycle collision into SFD Ladder Truck No. 6 in the 1000 block of Queen Anne Avenue North.

SFD pronounced the adult male driver of the motorcyclist deceased at the scene. They provided emergency medical aid to the passenger, who was transported to Harborview Medical Center (HMC) in critical condition.

Despite all lifesaving efforts, the adult male passenger was pronounced deceased at HMC.

The motorcyclist was traveling eastbound at a high rate-of-speed on West Prospect Street. The driver disregarded a stop sign and collided into the fire truck, traveling southbound on Queen Anne Avenue North.

SFD was responding to an emergency call for service with lights and sirens when the collision occurred. No firefighters were injured.

Police cordoned off the area. The Seattle Department of Transportation assisted in road closure.

Detectives with the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad arrived and processed the scene. They have taken lead on this investigation.
