Aug. 10—MILFORD — A sport utility vehicle crashed into a city fire truck that was protecting crews as they worked to put out a blaze on the side of Route 15 Saturday morning, officials say.

No first responders was hurt in the crash, which occurred near Exit 55A on Route 15 in Milford, the city’s firefighters union said in a Facebook post. The SUV’s driver was medically evaluated, the union said.

The SUV smashed into the rear of the fire truck while it was blocking crews who were extinguishing a car fire on the highway’s shoulder, according to the union, which posted photos of the crash.

“This is why we have trucks blocking crews who are working in front of them,” the union said. “Drive safe.”
